Russia and Ukraine have exchanged more than 300 soldiers captured during clashes between the two countries’ armed forces.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a social media post on Monday that 189 Ukrainians, including two civilians, had been released as part of the prisoner swap with Russia.
The Russian defence ministry said in a statement that it had recovered 150 Russian soldiers from Ukraine as part of the prisoner swap.
The Russian soldiers are currently in Belarus, where they are receiving medical and psychological care, it said.
It added that the United Arab Emirates had acted as a humanitarian mediator in the exchange.
