A South Korean court today issued an arrest warrant for ousted president Yoon Seok-yeol, who is accused of imposing martial law on 3 December.
This is the first time an arrest warrant has been issued for a sitting president in South Korea, Yonhap news agency reported.
Judicial sources said the Seoul West District Court approved a request by the Corruption Investigation Bureau to issue an arrest warrant for Yoon and a search warrant for his home.
The VCIB is expected to execute the arrest warrant against Yoon at the Presidential Blue House soon.
Two days ago, the bureau sought an arrest warrant for Yoon on charges of rebellion and abuse of power after Yoon ignored three summons to appear for questioning.
Yoon briefly declared martial law in early December, plunging the country into its worst political crisis in decades.
