Venezuela’s Supreme Court fined TikTok $10 million on Monday for “failing to take measures” to prevent the spread of viral video challenges that allegedly led to the recent deaths of three Venezuelan children.
Judge Tania Damelo said TikTok had been negligent, gave the company eight days to pay the fine and ordered it to open an office in Venezuela to monitor content and ensure it complies with local laws.
TikTok did not immediately respond to an AP request for comment.
