The World Health Organization called on the international community on Thursday to intensify efforts and fund an expanded aid response to Gaza after Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” announced on Wednesday that they had reached a ceasefire agreement to end the 15-month war in the Strip.

The organization said that its member states, donors and the international community, including the private sector, must support urgent health needs and the long-term reconstruction of the health care system in Gaza.

The World Health Organization’s representative in the occupied Palestinian territories, Rick Peeperkorn, indicated that “the United Nations cannot implement the response alone.”
