Local authorities in Ethiopia’s Afar region announced on Tuesday that at least 22 people were killed and 65 others injured after a truck carrying dozens of migrants and asylum seekers overturned on a highway near the city of Semera, hundreds of kilometers west of Djibouti.
The regional communications office said in a Facebook statement that “the accident occurred when a truck carrying citizens, misled by illegal brokers and unaware of the journey’s dangers, overturned.”
