Twenty-three people were killed and seven others injured in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting a wide area in southern Lebanon.

The heaviest strikes were concentrated in the city of Nabatieh, where areas near government buildings were hit, killing several security personnel.

The attacks targeted more than 50 towns and areas, marking a continued escalation despite talk of a regional truce, and raising concerns about further deterioration on the ground.
