An independent Sudanese medical network said Thursday that at least 24 people were killed and 55 others injured after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) shelled the city of El-Fasher in western Sudan on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Sudanese Doctors’ Network reported that the artillery attack targeted the central market area and the Awlad al-Reef neighborhood, leaving several civilians among the casualties, including five women.
The RSF has not issued any comment on the incident.
Sudan has been engulfed in a brutal conflict between the national army and the RSF since April 2023. The fighting has killed more than 20,000 people and displaced or forced into exile nearly 15 million, according to the United Nations and local authorities.
