30 Killed in Floods and Landslides in India’s Jammu and Kashmir

At least 30 people have been killed after heavy rains triggered floods and landslides in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, Hindustan Times reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, the torrential rains caused severe damage to infrastructure, leading to the collapse of bridges, power outages, and disruptions to communication networks. Several railway services were canceled, and multiple roads were shut down due to the flooding.

Authorities confirmed the death toll at 30 and said more than 3,500 people had been evacuated from the worst-hit areas as part of ongoing rescue operations.

The Himalayan region of Jammu and Kashmir is prone to flash floods and landslides during the annual monsoon season, often resulting in significant human and material losses.
