The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Monday that the death toll from recent armed clashes between Druze fighters and Bedouin tribesmen in Sweida province, southern Syria, has risen to 37.
According to the Observatory, the casualties include 27 Druze, among them two children, and 10 Bedouins, with nearly 50 others injured in the violent confrontations that erupted in the al-Maqous neighborhood in eastern Sweida city.
In a separate statement, Syria’s Ministry of Interior expressed “deep concern” over the escalating violence, confirming that the clashes involved local armed groups and tribal fighters, and led to more than 30 fatalities and approximately 100 injuries, based on preliminary figures.
These incidents mark the most severe unrest in the area since previous violence between Druze residents and Syrian security forces in April and May, which also resulted in multiple deaths.
