Fifty Sudanese refugees were killed after a fire broke out on a boat carrying them off the Libyan coast, according to the International Organization for Migration. Twenty-four others were rescued and given medical care.

The incident recalls the Mediterranean tragedy that claimed more than 2,400 migrant lives last year.
