At least 63 people were killed and dozens more injured on Wednesday in a tragic road accident in northern Uganda, when two buses collided head-on during an overtaking maneuver on a major highway, police said.
According to an official statement by the Uganda Police, the crash occurred after midnight on the Kampala-Gulu highway. The collision resulted in the deaths of 63 passengers and injuries to occupants of both buses as well as several other vehicles.
Road safety remains a major concern in Uganda, where high speeds and poor infrastructure frequently contribute to fatal accidents, making this incident one of the deadliest in recent years.
