At least 29 bodies of migrants have been recovered from two sites in southeastern and western Libya, a security directorate and the Libyan Red Crescent said on Thursday.

The Wahat Security Directorate said in a statement that 19 bodies were found in a mass grave at a farm in the Ajkhara area, 441 kilometres from Libya’s second city Benghazi, indicating that the deaths were linked to smuggling activities.

Separately, the Libyan Red Crescent said on Facebook late on Thursday that its team had recovered the bodies of 10 migrants early yesterday after their boat sank off the port of Dila in the town of Zawiya, about 40 kilometres from the capital Tripoli.
