Libya: 16 November is the date for the first round of local elections.

Libya’s High National Electoral Commission (HNEC) has set Saturday 16 November as the date for voting in the first round of local elections.
This came in a decision issued by the commission under number ‘121’ for the year 2024, the first article of which sets the voting period on the said day from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The number of registered voters in the electoral system for the first phase of the local elections was 210,545.
According to the HNEC, the number of registrations “exceeded expectations” in relation to the population of the sixty municipalities in which the first phase of the elections will be held, with 17 municipalities in the southern region, 31 in the western region and 12 in the eastern region.
