Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Friday that her country had received about 11 thousand migrants who had been deported from the United States as U.S. President Donald Trump took office in January 20.
Mexico’s president said the figure included about 2,500 non-Mexican people, according to Reuters.
Xinbaum reached a deal over the weekend with Trump to halt tariffs he threatened on Mexican goods in exchange for the deployment of thousands of police on the country’s northern border with the United States, in an effort to curb the flow of migrants.
