Some 60 countries signed a declaration on Tuesday at the conclusion of the World Summit on Artificial Intelligence in Paris, France, to develop inclusive and sustainable artificial intelligence (AI) to serve people and the planet.
The summit also announced the creation of a global observatory to monitor the impact of AI on energy, under the auspices of the International Energy Agency, and the establishment of a Sustainable AI Alliance to bring together leading companies in the field to work on the development of environmentally friendly AI technologies.
Among the Summit’s recommendations was the need to strengthen international dialogue to ensure that AI is used in a way that does not lead to market monopolies and that it is available to all on an equal basis.
