10 dead and 19 missing as a result of a landslide in south-western China

A landslide in southwest China’s Sichuan Province on Monday afternoon left 10 people dead, 19 missing and two others injured, according to the Emergency Rescue Centre.

The landslide buried 10 houses and damaged more than 100 hectares of crops. More than 3,000 personnel from armed police, fire, emergency response, transport, medical and other crews have been dispatched to participate in search and rescue efforts, aided by drones, sniffer dogs and life-detection equipment.

Rescue teams have evacuated 767 people from 139 families to safe locations.
