US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday it was “possible” to reach a trade deal between the US and China after he imposed an additional 10% tariff on all of his country’s imports of Chinese goods.
Trump told reporters on the presidential plane that in 2020 the United States had concluded a “great trade agreement with China” and that reaching a new treaty today was “possible,” according to AFP.
China has reciprocated the imposition of tariffs and filed a World Trade Organization complaint against Washington in what may be an early test of Trump’s attitude towards the organization.
