Turkish authorities announced today that they had foiled a terrorist plot to target schools and places of worship in Istanbul.
Istanbul police said in a statement that they had arrested an ISIS suspect in the Fatih district while he was preparing to carry out a terrorist act in the city, noting that the Security Directorate’s counter-terrorism teams had identified the identity and address of a suspect who was planning to take part in operations targeting places of worship.
The detainee revealed that he was linked to another person who was trying to carry out terrorist acts inside and outside Turkey, she said, noting that she had referred this person to the court, which ordered his detention.
