Egypt Unveils Plan for Gaza Reconstruction with Funding of Up to $20 Billion

Egypt has officially revealed, for the first time, the outlines of a plan it is preparing for the reconstruction of Gaza, which serves as an alternative to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate Gaza’s residents to Egypt and Jordan.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atti stated that the plan focuses on early recovery and reconstruction while allowing Palestinians to remain on their land, potentially involving funding of up to $20 billion over three years from Gulf and Arab countries.

He added that the second phase requires convening an international conference for reconstruction, while the third phase includes launching a political pathway for a two-state solution.

Gulf leaders, along with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Jordanian King Abdullah II, discussed the Egyptian plan at an informal summit in Saudi Arabia before it is set to be discussed at a Cairo summit on March 4.
