Didier Deschamps, coach of 2018 World Cup champion and 2022 runner-up France, will leave his post when his contract expires in 2026, AFP reported Tuesday, citing a source close to the team.
The era of Deschamps, 56, who was appointed in 2012, will end after the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico if France qualifies for the finals.
Deschamps was able to rebuild the team and achieve a comprehensive renaissance, culminating in the 2018 World Cup, where names such as Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe emerged under his leadership.
In addition to the World Cup, Deschamps won the 2021 UEFA Nations League and reached two major finals: Euro 2016 and the 2022 World Cup.
