Hamas Denies Ongoing Negotiations on the Second Phase of the Gaza Agreement

he Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has announced that there are currently no ongoing negotiations regarding the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. This statement comes as the first phase of the agreement, which included a prisoner exchange between both sides, has concluded.

According to informed sources, Israel seeks to extend the first phase of the truce for an additional six weeks, a move Hamas rejects, arguing that such an extension is aimed at avoiding a full commitment to ending the war.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem confirmed that the movement refuses any extension of the first phase without transitioning to the second phase, which aims to establish a permanent ceasefire and address core issues of the conflict.

The first phase of the agreement saw Hamas release 33 hostages, including 8 who were deceased, in exchange for Israel’s release of 1,900 Palestinian detainees.
