The Somali military, in cooperation with the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), successfully eliminated more than 40 terrorists during a joint airstrike operation in the Ayl Baraf region of the Middle Shabelle province.
The military stated in a statement on Monday that several vehicles and explosives used by the terrorist elements for carrying out attacks were destroyed.Somali sources also reported foiling an attack launched by the “Al-Shabaab” militia on military sites in the town of Bal’ad.
Meanwhile, government forces and local allies regained control of the town of Badoin in the southern region after intense clashes with the group’s fighters.
Government forces and their allies continue to carry out security operations to stabilize the affected areas, while “Al-Shabaab” continues its attempts to expand control over more areas in the Shabelle region.
