Crucial U.S.-Ukrainian Talks Kick Off in Jeddah

High-stakes negotiations between U.S. and Ukrainian delegations kicked off today in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, aiming to reach a peace agreement to end the three-year-long conflict with Russia.

The Ukrainian delegation is led by Andriy Yermak, Chief of Staff to President Volodymyr Zelensky, while the U.S. delegation is headed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, with participation from National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Whitkov.

The talks focus on achieving a partial ceasefire, including a halt to drone and long-range missile attacks, protection of civilian and military infrastructure, and cessation of military operations in the Black Sea.

The negotiations aim to mend strained relations between Kyiv and Washington, resume U.S. military aid to Ukraine, and find a peaceful resolution to the conflict with Russia.

These efforts follow previous tensions between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky, which led to the suspension of American military assistance. The recent escalation between Ukrainian and Russian forces has further heightened the urgency of these talks.
