Taiwan’s President Warns of Escalating Chinese Espionage Campaign

Taiwan’s President, William Lai Ching-te warned that China is intensifying its espionage and infiltration campaign against the island. Following a meeting with security officials on Thursday, Lai announced that his government would propose measures to counter Beijing’s efforts to “absorb” Taiwan.

He emphasized that China attempts to build relationships with various sectors of Taiwanese society, including organized crime groups, media figures, and police officers.
