Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna announced on Thursday that technical consultations between the United States and Ukraine regarding a rare minerals deal will begin in Washington on Friday.

This follows the Ukrainian government’s announcement of sending a diplomatic delegation to the U.S. for talks on the agreement.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed Ukraine’s openness to the step but emphasized the need for the partnership to be based on equality.

He also noted that Ukraine expects Washington to provide technical assistance and capital to support reconstruction efforts.
