The Sudanese army managed to enter the city of Wad Madani, the capital of the Al-Jazeera State, achieving its biggest victory since the war began in April 2023, without any significant resistance from the Rapid Support Forces, which had controlled the city since December 2023.

The Sudanese government spokesman announced the liberation of the city, while the army and its allied factions continued their rapid advance after regaining key towns on the way, most notably Um al-Qura.

The operation concluded with the capture of the Hantoub Bridge, accompanied by celebrations in the city.
