Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Rome on Saturday morning, accompanied by a diplomatic delegation, to take part in the second round of “indirect” negotiations with the United States, according to Iran’s official news agency.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei confirmed on Friday evening that the talks would be held under the leadership of Araghchi representing Iran, and Steve Witkoff, the U.S. President’s special envoy for the Middle East, representing the American side.
The negotiations are scheduled to take place in the Italian capital as part of renewed efforts to revive stalled diplomatic channels on key issues, including Iran’s nuclear program and regional stability.
This new round of talks comes after a lengthy diplomatic freeze, amid ongoing European efforts to bridge the gap between Tehran and Washington. However, no official details have yet been released about the agenda or duration of the meetings.
