At least 16 Palestinians were killed early Wednesday in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting various areas across the Gaza Strip, including a school sheltering displaced families northeast of Gaza City, according to medical sources and statements from the Palestinian Civil Defense.
The most devastating strike reportedly hit Yaffa School, which was housing displaced civilians, resulting in the deaths of 10 people, according to a statement by Civil Defense authorities. Several others are believed to be trapped under the rubble.
In separate strikes, four Palestinians were killed and others injured when Israeli missiles targeted the homes of the Jalies and Sharabasi families, along with nearby residences that suffered heavy damage.
The Civil Defense confirmed that several individuals remain missing beneath the debris of the destroyed buildings, as rescue teams continue operations despite dire humanitarian and security conditions.
This latest escalation comes amid a series of ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza, which have left hundreds dead and injured in recent months, intensifying the humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave.
