Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Saturday the complete recapture of the border region of Kursk from Ukrainian forces, declaring that “Kyiv’s adventure has completely failed.”

Speaking to Russian media, Putin stated, “Kursk has been fully restored from Ukrainian forces,” adding that the total defeat of enemy forces in the region “creates favorable conditions for further successful operations by our troops.”

In a statement, the Kremlin confirmed that Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov had briefed President Putin on the conclusion of the operation to “liberate Kursk” from Kyiv’s fighters.

The announcement comes amid ongoing escalations between Moscow and Kyiv as intense fighting continues across multiple fronts in eastern Ukraine.
