Mexico Receives Nearly 39,000 Migrants Deported from the U.S. Since Trump Administration Took Office

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced on Tuesday that the country has received approximately 39,000 migrants deported from the United States since the administration of President Donald Trump assumed office.

Speaking at her morning press conference, Sheinbaum explained that around 33,000 of those deportees are Mexican nationals, while the remainder are individuals of other nationalities returned to Mexico under existing security and migration agreements between the two countries.

The president emphasized that her government is working to “manage the consequences of these policies” by providing humanitarian assistance and support services, particularly for those deportees who no longer have strong ties within Mexico.

These remarks come amid an escalation in mass deportations, as the Trump administration intensifies its immigration policies and border enforcement measures, posing growing humanitarian and social challenges for Mexican border cities.
