Hundreds of tourists have been evacuated from Jordan’s archaeological city of Petra after heavy rains caused flash flooding.

The Jordan News Agency reported that most of the over 1,700 tourists visiting the site on Sunday were evacuated.

Authorities are working to ensure the safety of all visitors as hazardous weather conditions persist in the area.
