Ukraine launched a drone attack on the Russian capital, Moscow, on Wednesday—marking the third consecutive day of such assaults. The attack forced the temporary closure of most of the capital’s airports, coinciding with the expected arrival of Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is visiting to commemorate Victory Day over Nazi Germany in World War II.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that Russian air defense units had intercepted and destroyed at least 14 drones launched by Ukraine between 10:00 PM Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Key Moscow airports remained out of service for much of the night due to the attack.
