The Sudanese army has announced the complete liberation of the capital, Khartoum, after gaining control over the last strongholds of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in western and southern Omdurman.
Army spokesperson Brigadier General Nabil Abdullah stated in an official announcement:
Since the outbreak of the war on April 15, 2023, most of Khartoum State had been under the control of the RSF. However, on September 26, the army launched a military operation that, after months of fighting, allowed it to regain control over most of the capital’s districts.
