The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Monday the arrest of several ISIS-affiliated cells operating in rural Damascus and the seizure of light and medium weapons in their possession.
Hussam Al-Tahan, head of internal security in the Damascus countryside, said the operation followed extensive surveillance and tracking efforts based on precise intelligence provided by the General Intelligence Directorate. The ministry shared the details in a statement posted on its Telegram channel.
According to Al-Tahan, the terrorist cells were active in several areas of Western Ghouta, including Al-Kiswah, Deir Khabiyeh, Al-Muqayliba, and Zakiyah. He added that investigations are ongoing to uncover further individuals involved and to ensure the area is secured against potential threats.
