World Health Assembly Approves Raising Palestinian Flag in Geneva

The World Health Assembly voted on Monday in favor of raising the Palestinian flag inside the organization’s headquarters in Geneva, with a majority of 95 members supporting the decision.

This move, approved during the annual session of the UN agency, is seen as a gateway to broader recognition of the Palestinian state within the United Nations and beyond, according to the Palestinian mission.

The proposal was rejected by four members representing the Israeli occupation, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Germany, while 27 members abstained from voting.

France and Japan voted in favor of the decision, while the United Kingdom abstained, and the United States, a key ally of the Israeli occupation, did not participate in the vote.
