Zelensky Proposes Tripartite Summit with Trump and Putin to End War

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday proposed a tripartite summit with former U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, aiming to end the war launched by Moscow three years ago.

“If Putin is uncomfortable with a bilateral meeting, or if everyone prefers a trilateral format, I have no objection. I’m ready for any formula,” Zelensky said, according to AFP.

The call comes amid a renewed escalation in the Russia-Ukraine war and stalled diplomatic efforts. Kyiv hopes this initiative might create a political breakthrough after negotiations with the Kremlin came to a halt.

With Trump regaining political prominence in the U.S. and international pressure mounting on Moscow, Zelensky sees the summit as a potential path to cease hostilities.

The war, which began in February 2022, has resulted in thousands of deaths and millions displaced. Zelensky’s appeal underscores Ukraine’s urgency for a diplomatic resolution to halt the devastation and restore stability.
