Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, held talks on Saturday with African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, focusing on efforts to resolve the ongoing crisis between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The meeting took place in Doha as part of Youssouf’s official visit to Qatar, according to a statement released by the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The duration of the visit was not specified.
Discussions centered on recent developments across the African continent, with particular emphasis on diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions between Rwanda and the DRC.
Relations between the two countries have sharply deteriorated since late 2024, following renewed conflict in North Kivu, a volatile province in eastern DRC.
