Sudan’s Transitional Prime Minister Dissolves Government, Tasks Ministries with Interim Duties

Sudan’s transitional Prime Minister, Dr. Kamal Idris, announced Sunday evening the dissolution of the current government, according to the country’s official news agency (SUNA).

In a statement to cabinet members, Idris confirmed the decision and instructed ministry secretaries-general and undersecretaries to oversee day-to-day operations until a new government is formed.

The move comes as part of efforts to restructure the transitional administration and address national priorities during a critical political phase.

Earlier in the day, Idris pledged in a public address to uphold principles of justice, peace, the rule of law, and sustainable development. He emphasized his commitment to neutrality, promising to maintain equal distance from all political forces and societal groups in Sudan.

The Prime Minister also affirmed his intention to stay close to the people and work in service of their needs during the country’s ongoing transition.
