Ukraine has proposed holding a new round of peace talks with Russia between June 20 and 30, following the conclusion of a second round of negotiations in Istanbul, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said on Monday.
“We propose holding a meeting with the Russian side by the end of the month, between June 20 and 30,” Umerov told reporters, emphasizing that such a meeting is “essential to advance the negotiation process,” according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).
The proposal comes amid renewed international pressure to reach a peaceful settlement to the conflict, which has persisted for over two years. Key points of contention remain unresolved, including a comprehensive ceasefire, prisoner exchanges, and the return of displaced civilians.
