Trump Deploys National Guard in Los Angeles Amid Protests and Immigrant Arrests

U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops in Los Angeles, despite opposition from California Governor Gavin Newsom, following escalating tensions and clashes with protesters against immigrant detention campaigns.

Police used tear gas and arrested demonstrators near a federal detention center.

The raids resulted in the arrest of 35 Mexicans, prompting the President of Mexico to condemn what she described as the “criminalization of migrants.”
