Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday in Kuala Lumpur, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

According to a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, the two officials discussed all aspects of bilateral relations and exchanged views on several pressing international issues.

Key topics included the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and possible pathways to resolution, as well as the evolving situations in Iran and Syria.

Despite ongoing tensions between Moscow and Washington, the meeting highlighted both countries’ willingness to maintain diplomatic channels and engage in dialogue on matters of global security
