Cambodia Closes Airspace Over Conflict Zones Amid Border Clashes With Thailand

Cambodia has closed its airspace over areas currently experiencing armed conflict with neighboring Thailand, following a spike in tensions along the shared border, officials announced on Saturday.

The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation in Cambodia issued a directive to airlines to reroute flights in order to ensure passenger safety. A minimum altitude has also been set for aircraft to avoid potentially dangerous airspace.

Tensions between the Southeast Asian neighbors escalated on Thursday when clashes broke out along the disputed border, reviving long-standing territorial disputes that have periodically flared into violence.
