The Armenian government announced on Wednesday that the United States will host a high-level summit this week aimed at advancing peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan, with the participation of U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to an official statement from the Armenian Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will visit the United States on August 7–8, where he is scheduled to meet with President Trump to discuss strengthening the strategic partnership between Yerevan and Washington.
The summit will also include discussions with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, as part of renewed diplomatic efforts to broker a long-awaited peace agreement between the two South Caucasus neighbors following years of hostilities, particularly over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.
The talks come amid heightened international pressure for a resolution to the decades-long conflict and follow several rounds of negotiations facilitated by global powers.
