The UN Security Council will convene an emergency session on Friday at the request of Poland, after Warsaw said its airspace was violated by Russian drones during strikes on Ukraine, claims Moscow denies.
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said the move was meant to “draw the attention of the entire world to this unprecedented attack”, stressing the incursion was “not only a test for Poland, but for the EU and the NATO alliance as a whole, politically as well as militarily.”
The call follows repeated Polish warnings after dozens of drones were tracked during Russian operations against Ukraine, with Warsaw insisting some breached its airspace, while Moscow dismissed the accusations as “baseless.”
