The UN General Assembly on Friday overwhelmingly approved a resolution calling for “concrete, time-bound and irreversible steps” toward implementing the two-state solution and establishing an independent Palestinian state, ahead of next week’s world leaders’ summit in New York.
The resolution, known as the “New York Declaration”, passed with 142 votes in favor, 10 against, and 12 abstentions, according to AFP. All European Union members supported the motion except Hungary.
The text also condemned Israeli attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in Gaza, denounced the blockade and starvation tactics, and declared that the war in Gaza must end immediately.
