European Foreign Ministers Hold Talks with Iran on Nuclear File Ahead of Sanctions Deadline

France, Germany, and the United Kingdom’s foreign ministers are conducting a phone discussion with their Iranian counterpart on Wednesday to address Tehran’s nuclear program, as the deadline set by European nations for reimposing international sanctions on Iran approaches, according to a French diplomatic source cited by Agence France-Presse.

The source noted that the call comes “ahead of the United Nations General Assembly meetings and within ongoing discussions regarding Iran’s nuclear program,” with the European “Troika” ministers engaging directly with Iran’s foreign minister.

Earlier, Britain, France, and Germany initiated a month-long process to reinstate sanctions on Tehran, signaling increased pressure on Iran over its nuclear commitments.
