The European Union said on Monday that it had reimposed sanctions on Iran, after the United Nations took a similar step against Tehran.
In a statement issued by the EU presidency, it was announced that the reinstatement of sanctions came “in response to Iran’s continued non-compliance with the nuclear agreement,” while stressing that the door for dialogue remains open to a diplomatic settlement.
The European sanctions included the freezing of assets of the Central Bank of Iran and a number of other banks, in addition to imposing travel bans on certain officials in the country
