Senior Hamas official Hussam Badran said Saturday that the movement will not participate in the signing ceremony of the Gaza war-ending agreement scheduled to take place in Egypt.
Badran stated that the signing would involve only mediators and U.S. and Israeli officials, dismissing reports about Hamas leaders leaving Gaza as “nonsense.”
He warned that the next phase of negotiations would be “more difficult and complex,” stressing that any new Israeli aggression would be met with resistance.
Egypt’s presidency announced that President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump will co-chair the “Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit” on Monday, with more than 20 world leaders attending, including French President Emmanuel Macron.
The summit will discuss measures to consolidate the Gaza ceasefire, launch reconstruction efforts, and coordinate international action toward a lasting political solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.
The ceasefire between Palestinian resistance factions and Israel took effect on Friday after a devastating two-year war.
Despite a relative calm, Palestinian sources reported limited Israeli violations in the northern Gaza Strip.
