Colombia has recalled its ambassador to the United States, Daniel García-Peña, following remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who labeled his Colombian counterpart Gustavo Petro a “criminal drug lord.”

The Foreign Ministry confirmed the ambassador’s arrival in Bogotá for consultations with Petro.

The move comes after Trump threatened to cut aid to Bogotá, escalating tensions over drug policy and regional relations.
