The death toll from Typhoon Tino in the central Visayas islands has risen to 224, with 109 missing and more than 500 injured, the national disaster council said.

A second storm, Fung-Wong, forced over a million people to evacuate as winds exceeded 230 km/h.

The new typhoon struck just a week after the previous one, worsening the humanitarian crisis and hampering relief operations.
